After reading your list, I can only recommend through experience Italy and the Grand Canyon. But, oh my goodness, if those are the only two you get to, it'll be worth it! The Grand Canyon is so beautiful it literally makes you cry as you stand at the edge. Italy is so full of warm, inviting people, and spectacular food, you'll never feel so welcome anywhere else. I hope you make it to your dream destinations! It was fun to read your Thursday Thirteen.
ReplyDeleteJerusalem is one of the places I wanna go, too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Hiya,
ReplyDeleteHave to agree on Greece as it would be my number one. My family is from Greece and I've never been. Some similar music tastes, love Casting Crowns in particular and you must get the new Third Day Christmas disc (track 13 hits home as my wife and I are adopting from China). Also, semi-related, a history teacher (now in Gwinnett) was a tremendous influence on me. Thanks for what you do.
I did a 'places I want to visit list' a while back, and we have some similar places. I'm dying to go to Masai Mara Game Preserve in Kenya. I hope we both make it to all of our desired destinations!!

I've been to a few on your list, and I would definitely recommend Greece. It's so beautiful and the beaches are really pretty. I'd also recommend Great Britain, but I'm a little biased, seeing as my family's from there ;).
ReplyDeleteAlaska by cruise ship is pretty amazing. Definitely spend the extra bucks and take a helicopter excursion where you can actually land on a glacier. Once in a lifetime...and truly awe-inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAs an elementary history teacher (I have a 5th grader), you might be interested that there is a show on from 8 to 11 on the History Channel (I think?) on Sunday night...the real story of the Mayflower. Sounds very interesting!
I have the same TT this week. I want to travel to New England and I know hubby (www.valtool.blogspot.com) really would like to go to Greece
ReplyDeleteGreat list. :) Those all sound like wonderful places to visit. We plan on visiting 1, 2 and 3 sometime over the next three years, while we're posted to Germany.
ReplyDeleteAn Alaskan cruise sounds great - we have friends who've done this and they really enjoyed it. The Grand Canyon would be amazing to see too.
Happy T13. :)
I would be happy if I could just see the whole of Europe before I die.
ReplyDeleteHappy T13!
You absolutely MUST go to New Zealand. It is an enchanted land. I've been once. I'd live there if I could.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on a lot of those! Don't forget to include The Netherlands when you're visiting Europe.
ReplyDeleteMy TT is about sports I like to watch.
Wow, lots of interesting visitors so far with this Thursday Thirteen thing......
ReplyDeleteWelcome one and all to History Is Elementary. I hope you visit again soon.
Check out my links list and find out what's going on in the world of education!
As a former English teacher, I can tell you those are all places I'd love to visit too. :)
ReplyDeleteScotland and Ireland are high on my list.
I'll join you on your trip to Great Britain. We have planned to go their three times, and the trips got cancelled for the following reasons:
ReplyDelete1. Foot and mouth disease
2. 9/11
3. Too pregnant to travel.
*sigh* I'll make it one of these days.
A good list! But if you go to Alaska you have to actually do it - no cheating with the cruise thing.
ReplyDeleteMy dear brother and I visited England and Scotland last summer. It was a magical time. And, NE in the fall *is* beautiful, having been born and raised in this region. One of the many things I missed when I resided in Georgia for three years.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I talk often re: visiting the Holy Land, but things being as they are in the world...
Africa: The Serengeti is on our travel list!
