No wife....no relative....no president used this hanky. The person who did use it is famous in history, but is not commonly known.

One more hint.....I discovered him on my trip to Mississippi.
I'm guessing it wiped the tears of a dying president's soon-to-be widow.

Did the handkerchief belong to Elvis Presley? No... he's well-known... Hmm, Mississippi... how about Tennessee Williams? B.B. King? (My husband's a guitarist, haha).

It's not a hanky. It's an Arabic headdress. Commonly called a Kaifia (I don't know if I spelled that right.)
ReplyDeleteI have one at home - same design. I gave one to my dad as well (his is black and white).
Good guess, Eric. The story I was told is this person's wife made the hanky for him before 1840. I don't think they had ever been to the Middle East.
