Hmmm...is this one of those "Are you smarter that a fifth grader" questions??? hee hee...I guess I have failed!! This is terrible.

Right now, I'm shell-shocked!
The turtle is the symbol of the Supreme Court of the US, but I couldn't think of a Justice known as one.
However, during my recent reference material for my native American commentary of Ohio, PA and NY, I did come upon someone known as a little one and his formal name is reminiscent of a resort city and an Ohio university.
Union General George Gordon Meade was referred to as "The Old Snapping Turtle"
My kids love those at the zoo.
Don't know the answer to that question though.

Guess I'll have to check back to find out. No clue. The only figure that comes to mind for me -- and we're not talking history here -- is Yertle the Turtle from Dr. Seuss.
I love tortoises! They are just so cool looking.
The person I'm thinking of is not American. Aesop from Aesop's fables: The Tortoise and the Hare.

I just got done teaching this with my Honors US History Part I class - Battle of Fallen Timbers in Ohio in 1794???????
Well, m-dawg....I checked just to make sure my figure from history wasn't at the Battle of Fallen Timbers and I don't think he was. He was busy a bit south I believe and was known by some to have a heavy pack and move slow.
