Happy New Year

I AM THE NEW YEAR

I am the New Year.

I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living.

I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last twelve months.

All that you sought and didn't find is hidden in me,Waiting, for you to search it out with more determination and passion.

All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do,all the faith that you claimed but did not have --

These slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose.

I am your opportunity.

Thanks 40, a very HNY to you!

Hi Butterfly Angel, my husband received the poem in an email. We thought it would be great to put here for everyone.

Dear Daughter returns to school tomorrow. Dear Son is transferring to another college. He moves in tomorrow. I have a workday on Wednesday and the students return to school on Thursday. I'm ready.....but not ready.

Actually, this is true of every day. In fact, every minute. There's no reason to wait for an artificial milestone to change directions. But then, humans are hardwired like that.

Hope you had a terrific New year's Eve and hope you have a better year ahead.

Every once in a while I get cynical about new years because I think, "This whole time concept is completely arbitrary. What's the point in calling January 1 New Year's Day? Why not May 3 or July 16?"

But then along comes this little reminder that with the New Year (whenever it is!), we have new opportunities. We don't have to stay stuck in the same old ruts and live in the same old ways. Thank goodness, thank God, and thank you, EHT, for that good news!

I really liked this post. It's true, that every minute is a new opportunity, every day is a blank page, but somehow many of us got lost in going through the motions. It's nice to have a fixed milestone to feel that all things are new.

happy 2007!
