Wordless Wednesday: Week 12

There are very few cyberspace images of this individual available....yet he had an important job during the American Revolution. What did this gentlement do? Which future president did he influence?

Look at his shirt cuffs.....I bet those were very inconvenient as they drug across a freshly written page.

Have fun guessing! The explanation will be up Thursday.

Still wondering about last week's boot? Find out more here.

Being as there are few photos available it takes away most of the usual suspects and leaves me with nothing.

HMMM...I'm guessing this man is a judge, based on the wig. British maybe? I'll be back on Thursday to find out.

I have seen this picture. My mind is drawing a blank right now.
I did remember the boots but forgot to tell you about it.

Is this the doctor (can't remember his name now) who influenced John Adams?

Hugs,
Holly

Okay I'm gonna take a stab at it...
Either Thomas Paine or Thomas Jefferson. and the president would have been John Adams...
okay all guessing but it's worth it for the fun!

Is that George Mason or Thomas Paine?

Hmm...I don't recognize the picture, and yet so many people are running through my head. I can't wait to see what the answer is.

Happy WW and Valentine's Day

At first I thought it looked like William Pitt the Elder (of Stamp Tax Repeal fame),

I have tried to match the portrait to someone born in the early 1700's as the clothing and wig suggest someone who would have been an elder statesman, merchant, etc. during the revolution.

And it's not George Mason, Arthur Lee, Richard Henry Lee, Silas Deane, ...the list goes on.

I'll be back!

It is so much fun for me to post these images late on Tuesday and then be gone all day on Wednesday to school. I can't access this site at all in my classroom, so it is always such a nice surprise to come home and see how many responses I have.

Holly guessed the doctor that influenced John Adams. She may be referring to Dr. Warren....he was killed at Bunker (Breed's Hill). Unfortunately my gentlemen is not Dr. Warren.

He was involved early in one of the Founding Father's lives.

I think it is John Locke or maybe Jean Jacques Rousseau; both were "involved" early in the lives of several of the Founding Fathers. That's my guess on this cold, cold night. Back to the lesson plans.

I have no idea at all who it is, but I'm relieved that whole puffy shirt trend has faded into oblivion. Though it could come back, of course, if we aren't careful.

Sorry Teachergirl.....

NYC, now what are you talking about? I was planning on buying you a whole closet full of puffy shirts for Spring. :)

Your remark concerning his cuffs had me going through all the images I could find on the elder signers of the Declaration.

I was also going through the members of the Virginia House of Burgesses

I'll try one more time!

I have two WW's this week! My TT is a bit weak, but it's the truth!
